Chile, where the market is?

Currently I am heavily recruiting in Chile in the Mining and Metals industry, which makes me wonder if this is where the recruitment market is.

Some facts and figures:

  • The mining industry is expected to grow by 53 bn USD by 2015 or 53%
  • Most of the above growth will be in 2012 and 2013
  • Chile produces 34% of the world copper (it’s a lot)
  • Gold mining is expanding at 19% year on year and will continue until 2015
  • There is no terrorism in Chile
  • Crime is low in Chile
  • Chile is stable, democratic and mature (Pinochet went 1990).
  • Chile is rich
  • Its Macroeconomic policy is conservative
  • It has an open economy and welcomes foreign investment (no protectionism)
  • Business costs are low including tax.
  • The quality of life is good in Chile

So if you are an engineer and thinking of travelling for work, think about Chile.
